Long Description
Mackerel has a blue-green back, a silver-white belly, blue-black stripes and a deeply incised tail fin which makes it a treat for the eye. The meat is firm and fat yet quite juicy and soft. It has an oily, smoky smell.
Our hot-smoked mackerel fillet is always a treat, whether as part of a delicious dinner with friends or as a fillet on bread for breakfast. Beechwood is commonly used to give the mackerel its characteristic robust aroma and flavours. Mackerel has higher omega-3 levels than any other commonly eaten fish and is also a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin D, selenium, and niacin, which are all important for our health.
Flakes are perfectly balanced, combining beechwood smoke and a touch of saltiness.
