A mild-tasting species of flatfish, plaice takes sauces and other flavours very well – and can be steamed in a parcel, added to a traybake and is also great for battering, deep-frying and pan-frying.
European Plaice offers a variety of health benefits. It is high in several vitamins and minerals, as well as a rich source of protein. Eating plaice may also promote heart and brain health due to its high content of omega-3 fatty acids.
Plaice has a mild, sweet flavour with very firm, small-flaked flesh.
