Our halibut is line-caught in the pristine waters between Iceland, Denmark, and Norway. This dark brown and rather large flatfish is extremely lean with mild, sweet-tasting white flesh, large flakes, and a firm but tender texture. If you’re a fan of flounder and turbot, this is a good choice for you.
Halibut maintains its firm texture and shape during cooking, which makes it an excellent choice for baking, broiling, grilling, poaching, or steaming with herbs, spices and sauces, ranging from basic to more elaborate ones.
Low in saturated fat and sodium, halibut is a deliciously smart food choice. It is also a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin B12, magnesium and potassium, and an incredibly good source of protein, niacin, phosphorus and selenium.
This lean fish has a mild, sweet-tasting white flesh, similar to tilapia. It is thicker and firmer than cod. Because the flavour is so gentle, halibut pairs well with bolder seasonings like pesto, lemon juice and basil.
